Which camp fits your child?

Trail Explorers is for kids who ride a bike independently but are new to forest trails. The three Mount Fromme camps require experience riding blue trails, such as Bobsled, in control.

Bike check and warm-up before the first ride

A good day on the bike

Real trails. Small wins. Another go.

Kids spend most of each session riding. A short coaching tip, a chance to try it, then back into the ride—with time to regroup, catch their breath and try again.

          01

          Plenty of trail time

Loops and routes match the group’s ability, with time to settle in and practise familiar sections.

          02

          Skills they can use

Braking before a turn, looking ahead and finding a balanced position: small changes they can practise on the next section.

          03

          Real breaks

Water and snack stops are built in. The 9:30 AM–3:30 PM camps also get a proper lunch break.

          The people leading the ride

Small enough to notice what your child needs.

          1:5Maximum five riders per coach

          Skilled riders who can teach

Our coaches are skilled mountain bikers who ride often, are trained in first aid and know how to teach skills at the right level for each rider. All coaches also complete criminal record checks.

          Room for another try

With no more than five riders per coach, there’s time to notice hesitation, explain a skill and regroup. Riders can watch, walk or retry a feature as they build control.

You be the riding buddy. We’ll be the coach.

We handle the teaching and feedback; you get to cheer them on. At pickup, ask how the ride went. Their end-of-camp recap explains what they practised and what to work on next, giving you a starting point for your next ride together.

          Arrive ready

          What each rider needs.

Riders must bring their own bike and helmet. We check both before the first ride. If either is unsafe, the rider won’t be able to ride until it is fixed or replaced.

          Quick answers

          Before you book.

How do I know which camp is right for my child?

Trail Explorers is for independent riders building confidence off-road. Fromme Juniors, Fromme Progression and Queen Riders are for riders who already ride blue trails such as Bobsled in control. If you are unsure, tell us which trails your child currently rides and we’ll help you choose.

What happens if my child struggles with the group—or is ready for more?

Coaches adjust the pace, route and challenges within each group. If the camp is not the right fit, the coach will speak with you and make the safest available plan for the rest of the camp.

          How long is each session?

It depends on the camp and the dates you choose, and the exact hours are shown with every set of dates. After-school camps run 4:00–6:00 PM. Sunday sessions are available by email inquiry and run 10:00 AM–2:00 PM for Trail Explorers and Fromme Juniors, or 9:30 AM–3:30 PM for Fromme Progression and Queen Riders, which include a supervised lunch break.

Does my child need their own bike and helmet?

Riders must bring their own bike and helmet. The bike must fit and have gears, working front and rear hand brakes and off-road tyres. We check both before the first ride. If either is unsafe, the rider cannot ride until it is fixed or replaced.

          Where are drop-off and pickup?

After-school camps: Trail Explorers uses the Kilmer Park parking lot for both drop-off and pickup every session. Fromme Juniors, Fromme Progression and Queen Riders drop off on the north side of the Mount Fromme parking lot and pick up at the Kilmer Park parking lot every session, including the first. Use the standard Kilmer Park listing in Google Maps for the parking lot.

Weekend and school-break camps: Trail Explorers uses Kilmer Park for drop-off and pickup. Fromme Juniors, Fromme Progression and Queen Riders meet at Kilmer Park for the first session, then drop off on the north side of the Mount Fromme parking lot for the remaining sessions. Pickup is at Kilmer Park every session. For these camps, meet on the south side of Kilmer Park: park on the Kilmer Road side and meet on the gravel field. Session times are shown with each set of dates; final instructions are confirmed before camp.

Does camp run in the rain?

Yes. Camps run rain or shine. Coaches may adjust the route or daily plan when trail and weather conditions require it. If conditions become unsafe because of extreme weather, air quality or a trail closure, we’ll contact families directly.

Can you support allergies, medication or other needs?

Tell us what coaches need to know during registration. Riders should carry and be able to access their own prescribed medication. Contact us before booking if your child may need medication assistance or another specific support so we can confirm what can be safely provided.

Can friends or siblings ride together?

Tell us during registration and we’ll do our best to place them together when they choose the same camp, trail group and schedule. Group safety and riding fit come first, so placement cannot be guaranteed.

Can parents stay for the first session?

Parents are welcome to help their rider get checked in and settled at drop-off. Once the group is ready to begin, coaches need to lead the riders without adults following the camp on trail.

          What is the cancellation policy?

More than 10 days before camp, families may transfer to another available camp at no charge or receive a refund less a $35 administration fee. Cancellations received 10 days or fewer before camp are not eligible for a refund, credit or transfer. The complete policy is shown before payment.

When do I sign the participation waiver?

We’ll email the approved Smartwaiver after booking. A parent or legal guardian must complete it before the rider participates. We’ll send reminders seven days and 72 hours before camp. An unsigned waiver does not cancel or refund the booking, but the rider cannot ride until it is complete.

What if a camp does not have enough riders?

Each camp needs at least three riders to run. We’ll keep registered families updated and make the final decision 72 hours before camp. If Shore Bike Camps cancels, families can transfer to another available camp or receive a full refund.
